Next Nintendo Direct is focusing on Mario Odyssey, upcoming Switch and 3DS games

Nintendo announced today that it’s going to broadcast another one of its Direct video streams on September 13 at 3 p.m. Pacific. It will focus on Switch and 3DS games coming in the next few months — although Nintendo only promised specific new details for Super Mario Odyssey. That anticipated Switch platformer debuts October 27.

Nintendo Directs have become the Japanese gaming giant’s favorite way to announce new products or highlight upcoming ones. This stream is coming just one day after Tuesday’s big Apple event, which will see the announcement of new iPhones and more. Last year, Nintendo was a part of Apple’s show when it debuted Super Mario Run.

Whatever Nintendo is planning for its event, it’ll be a lengthy one. The Direct will last about 45 minutes. By comparison, Nintendo’s E3 Spotlight video was only 25 minutes long (although Nintendo did supplement that presentation with additional streaming and announcements during the E3 event).

So, what should we expect? Aside from Mario Odyssey, the Switch has PokkĂ©n Tournament DX, Fire Emblem Warriors, and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 on the horizon. The 3DS is getting PokĂ©mon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon and Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser’s Minions. But we’ll (hopefully) get some new game announcements during the event.
