White & Orchid Gray Variants Of Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus Leak

Half a dozen renders depicting what’s said to be Samsung’s Galaxy S9 Plus flagship leaked online earlier today, having been spotted on a website of a third-party phone accessory maker. It’s presently unclear whether the product listings were published prematurely by accident or if the move was a conscious attempt to generate some extra publicity for the cases, though the renders themselves largely correspond to recent rumors about Samsung’s upcoming high-end Android lineup, save for one detail – the handset’s color. While a number of images seen below show the Orchid Gray variant of the Galaxy S9 Plus which was already reported about in recent months, another one depicts a device whose rear panel is of the snow white variety. The South Korean smartphone maker last delivered a white flagship in 2015 with the Pearl White version of the Galaxy S6, though the newly uncovered model appears to be more glossy, presumably because its back plate is covered with glass.

Other features of the handset correspond to previous reports about the Galaxy S9 Plus, with the handset being depicted as sporting a dual-camera setup entailing two vertically arranged sensors flanked by a dual-LED flash unit and a heart rate monitor from the right. The fingerprint reader of the device largely retained the shape of the one seen on the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus but is now oriented horizontally and positioned beneath the main imaging system of the flagship, presumably because Samsung is trying to make it easier to reach. The phablet still sports an edge-to-edge display which curves around its long sides, with its visible bezels remaining mostly unchanged, i.e. minimal. The bottom bezel does appear to have been additionally trimmed down, with the overall package seemingly having a screen-to-body ratio of around 90 percent, six percentage points higher than its predecessor. A physical Bixby key is still part of the package, situated on the left edge of the Galaxy S9 Plus, beneath its volume buttons.

The Galaxy S9 lineup will be officially announced in the run-up to the 2018 edition of the Mobile World Congress late next month, Samsung already confirmed. The company’s next Unpacked event is taking place on February 25th in Barcelona, Spain, with the Android flagships hence being likely to become available for pre-orders soon afterward and hitting the market in mid-March.
